Fifteenth Circuit Court District of Mississippi | Print |

The State of Mississippi is divided into 22 Circuit Court Districts.  The Fifteenth Judicial District is comprised of the following five counties: Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion, and Pearl River.

The State of Mississippi's Trial Court System consists of two general jurisdiction courts (circuit and chancery) and three limited jurisdiction courts (county, justice, and municipal).  Circuit Courts have original jurisdiction over all civil and criminal matters not vested in another court.  Most circuit court cases are heard by juries although some circumstances may permit bench trials.  As opposed to Circuit Court, Chancery Court is a court of limited jurisdiction with the majority of cases involving domestic disputes, such as divorce, child custody and support, followed by probate and estate matters.
